Reliance Senior Secondary School

RELIANCE SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, formerly Reliance College Jr., the first junior college in Golaghat district, is situated virtually in the heart of Golaghat. It operates under the umbrella of RELIANCE EDUCATION RESEARCH SOCIETY, Guwahati, under the present Chairman of the School, Sri Dipak Kr. Gogoi in addition to other seven members. This school has been a long cherished dream of late Jiba Kanta Gogoi, though it was later fulfilled by late Rupak Kr. Gogoi. Now, well equipped with the dedicated team of faculties and supported by Mr. Dipak Kr. Gogoi, Reliance Senior Secondary School has been able to produce, despite all hurdles, students having capacity to cope up with the ongoing stiff competition of the real world since its inception. It has, in a broader perspective, catered, to the needs of the students of both Assamese and English medium background of this region, who have now shown increasing eagerness to join the family of Reliance Senior Secondary School, instead of going to far off places inside and outside Assam to fulfil their dreams.

The dearth of a Higher Secondary level school in this region has, unquestionably been compensated by this school, and from the record, it can well be predicted that this school has more to offer in future. This school possesses an unique character vis-a-vis other school of this region, as it has always emphasized upon the fact that each student should be given individual attention.

A Tribute to

Lt. Rupak Kumar Gogoi

(The founder Chairman of Reliance College)

Your inspiration and determination made Reliance College a reality. Your dream of making Reliance College Jr. a fine example of a model educational institution is still burning bright amidst us. And we are sure whenever you are, you will guide us to that ultimate goal. You are still amidst us.

From Chairman’s Table

Deepak Kr. Gogoi

As I sit at my work table in our beautiful Reliance Senior Secondary School campus, I look around my room and see many modern things of our day to day usage which has become a part and parcel of our daily life. I see the laptop computer, the mobile telephone on the table, the digital clock on the wall co-existing happily with the colorful wall calendar, the water dispenser, the calculator etc. As | delve further into the history of their conceptualization and making. I am stunned by one singular fact …. that all of them have had their origin in some foreign land .… discovered long back and reached our Indian soil only a couple of decades back and we are happily using them without bothering to think about the brilliant foreign minds that invented these brilliant gadgets and | wonder if all these modern machines and gadgets have been invented by foreign minds then what has happened to our brilliant age old Indian knowledge and intelligence of which we are always so proud of.

When we look back into our past our nation had given birth to many famous scientists like Arya Bhatta, physicians like Sushruta, pathologists like Charaka and lawgivers like Manu etc. it appears that with the passage of time, their numbers have dwindled and we have reached the present status — a nadir of non-creative consumerism. Instead of putting our minds into scientific creativity we have become mere users of modern tools and gadgets made by others.

I, therefore, call upon our fellow students to think more independently about the problems and apply their minds to the discovery of their scientific solutions, I would urge upon each and everyone to be more inquisitive about their immediate surroundings and learn to ask questions so that their minds become more active and keen to evolve solutions to our day to day needs and problems, in order to make our daily lives easier and comfortable to live. For this we all need to adopt what is known as the Scientific Temper and outlook.

In fact, “To develop Scientific Temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform’ is one of the Fundamental Duties of the people of the Republic of India, as enshrined in the Constitution.

Jawaharlal Nehru was the first to use the phrase in 1946. He explained Scientific temper as a way Of life which involves questioning, observing physical reality, testing hypothesizing, analyzing and communicating. “Scientific temper” describes an attitude which involves the application of logic. Discussion, argument and analysis are vital parts of scientific temper.

So, my dear fellow students let us take a new pledge today to entirely overhaul your outlook towards your life and duty as students. Our teachers are always with you to extend their best possible helping hands in attaining this great goal.

We eagerly await the day, when someone from our school will do something that will make us really proud. Do something which is really GREAT.

From Rector’s Table

I begin my opinion on Reliance S.S. School with a quote of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the missile man and Ex-president of our country, “Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, provides knowledge and knowledge makes you great”. Students come to our Institution for learning and knowledge. If they pursue this dictum they will be worthy citizens of the society.

The Reliance S.S. School (Formerly Reliance Jr. College) was established by Late. Rupak Kr. Gogoi, the visionary person who felt the need of an English medium higher secondary school in Golaghat district to cater to the need of poor students. This will help them to appear in the entrance examination for Engineering and Medical courses which are held in English medium.

So, this Institution came into being on the 10th July of 2003, with two streams —Science and Arts. As selected meritorious students are admitted, the institution shows brilliant results in the final examination in each year beginning from the year 2005 onwards.

After his sad demise, his elder brother Dipak Kr. Gogoi took the helm affairs of this school. Under his stewardship the commerce stream was added, in addition Assamese medium was also introduced. The new education policy required the beginning of class IX ; it started in our school from the year 2022. A number of teachers were also appointed to take these classes, giving job to the post-graduate holders solving unemployment problem to some extent.

My advice to the students to read hard. Success will come to them only with hardwork, not accidently. They must be attentive to whatever is taught to them by the teachers and must question the teachers if they don’t clearly understand a point. Teachers are like candles, they burn an give light to remove darkness of ignorance from the mind of the students. Further they should think themselves as students. This attitude will satiate the desire for learning more and they can clarify in elaborate manner each and every point to the students and make them successful.

Lastly, I wish continuous progress of Reliance Senior Secondary School in the years to come under the guidance of the Principal Mrs. Priyanka Saikia Das.

Live long the Reliance Senior Secondary School!

From Principal’s Table

Reliance Senior Secondary School (formerly Reliance College Jr.) was established on the 10th July, 2003. Since its birth, it has been accelerating its progress without any pause to reach its goal and becomes successful in gaining laurels in abundance. It is a platform where we intend to keep working to help our current and future students to advance in their career with discipline, determination and dedication as the core-values.

Our institution was a dream of Late Rupak Kr. Gogoi and his dream turned into reality due to his broad outlook and benevolent step. His sudden demise was a bolt from the blue for all of us. But Mr. Dipak Kr. Gogoi, the elder brother of Late Rupak Kr. Gogoi, and now the Chairman of our school had never let our spirit to be demoralised. His untiring effort has created an excellent infrastructure.

We aim to nurture the talents, skills and abilities of each student and provide them value based education that inculcates in students a spirit of service, nationalism, patriotism, equality, democracy, scientific temper etc. to make the students think, express and exhibit their skills so as to empower them to face and overcome their hurdles with their intelligence.

The year 2013 became a landmark in the history of our institution as Miss Ananya Saikia secured the first rank in the H.S.S.L.C. Final Examination 2013 in the Arts stream. She also secured 100 marks out of 100 in Economics in the same exam. Another student Miss Prerona Hazarika appeared as a shining star by securing the all Assam eight position in Science stream in the H.S.S.L.C. Final exam, 2016 in the Science stream. Again, in 2020, Shri Gyandeep Dowarah secured the 4th position in Commerce stream in all Assam level in the H. S.S.L.C. Final Exam, 2020 and raised our institution to an esteemed position.

We look forward to enrich the students’ learning years with interactive sessions, welcoming the parents’ / guardians’ positive suggestions for the smooth running of the institution. Hope all our students will put their best to make our institution the best always.
